St John’s is blessed to have three wonderful and talented priests. Mother Marilyn and Father Chris take two Sundays a month each, with Father Lance filling in in their absence.

Rev Marilyn Anderson hails from Pittsburgh. Born into a Roman Catholic family, she converted to the Episcopal Church at age 36, looking for solid teaching and biblical studies. She loves it because it encourages people to think and ask questions, and for its liturgy and music, which she sees as indispensable guides in our journey to Christ.

Marilyn was ordained priest in 2003, having earned theological degrees from Yale Divinity School (magna cum laude) and General Theological Seminary. She leads retreats and is a spiritual director. Marilyn served at St Andrew’s Church, Madison, CT, as associate rector for three years, and at Christ Church, Redding, CT, as rector for twelve years. She retired in January 2018, and is happiest with family and in the garden.

Marilyn and her husband Barry are the proud parents of two young women, Emily and Chloe. Each daughter is married to a Romanian citizen (!). They have one grandchild, Evelina, born Spring 2019. Marilyn graduated from William and Mary, and earned an MS in geological studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She studied the chemistry of ocean island lavas from the Azores.

Rev Paul Christopherson is a native Minnesotan. He was ordained priest for the Bishop of Minnesota by the Bishop of New York, where he served as curate at St Thomas Fifth Avenue. Paul then had a dual career on Wall Street and as a supply priest. In 1992, he started New Vernon Associates, an institutional equity research firm he sold in 2008. In 2010, he published “Pants On Fire: Cutting Through the Biggest Lies of 21st Century American Plutocracy”.

Paul was a board member of the Episcopal Preaching Foundation, and of the General Theological Seminary, where he served on the executive committee and chaired the investment committee. In 2016, Paul was licensed a supply priest in Connecticut and has served ten parishes, including St Michael’s, Litchfield; St Paul’s, Woodbury; St Andrew's, Kent; and St John’s, Washington.

Paul (“Chris”) and his wife Ellen (“Dede”) were married at St James in New York in 2012 and moved to Litchfield in 2016. By a previous marriage, Paul has a daughter and three grandchildren. He graduated from Williams (BA); Episcopal Divinity School (MDiv); and Columbia (MBA).

Rev Canon Lance Beizer grew up in the Northwest Corner, in Canaan, the son of a State Trooper. He attended elementary school in Canaan and then graduated from the Hotchkiss School, class of ’56, where he developed a life-long interest in both spiritual and ethical issues. He attended college at Brandeis University with a major in Sociology. A year of law school at Stanford University was followed by four years as a Naval officer—in Iceland and then Moffett Field, California. After a master’s degree in English, Lance worked in Student Affairs at the University of California, San Diego, for several years, while returning to law school, at the University of San Diego, receiving his law degree in 1975. To read more about Fr.
